Alexis Christine Wild

Multidisciplinary Artist

Growing up in a missionary cult, I was taught to trust others more than myself. Now, I create dynamic artwork to build connection with myself, others and the world while inviting those who encounter my work to do the same. My practice explores permission, connection and the complexity of being human both on our own and in community. I am interested in what happens when we allow ourselves to be seen, felt and known, including the parts of ourselves that we have learned to hide. Using movement, poetry, photography, and painting, I explore identity and vulnerability, belonging and separateness. I am drawn to peeling back the layers and looking deeply at the stories we hold in our bodies. My goal is to create pieces and moments of deep human feeling, where we remember that we are human, together. The point of being alive is to be alive.
